Boat Wash Station
GORA worked with the Municipality and the Boat Wash station was installed at the Municipal Hall at 15 Palmer Street in May 2018.
In the Fall of 2020. the Municipality applied for, and received, a grant from the Government of Quebec to do the following:
Install a new hot water pressure washer at the boat wash station in advance of the 2021 boat launching season
Install a payment kiosk and security camera at the wash station
Develop communications material concerning the by-law and importance of boat washing
Produce new signs to inform the public of the new by-law and direct boat owners to the wash station
A hot water pressure washer is the most effective way to remove invasive species. The boat as well as the engine, trailer, holding tank, and any compartment that may contain or accumulate water (if applicable) must be washed.
However, due to COVID, the timeline for delivery of some of the equipment for the boat wash station has been delayed. As a result, the payment kiosk and new hot water power washer are not yet installed. Magnetic cards and boat stickers will not be available until the kiosk is up and running. The goal is to have it set up at some point in May. Meanwhile, the existing power washer remains available for use.
